Industrial Unit Fit-Out & Data Infrastructure — UKMEDI, Norwich

Industrial Rewires & Installation Norwich

A complete electrical and data fit-out of a new industrial unit for UKMEDI in Norwich — medical equipment and supplies — taking the building from bare shell to a working warehouse and office.

The bulk of the work was containment and distribution. Galvanised cable basket and tray runs at high level the full length of the unit, carrying power, data and fibre on separate routes with proper segregation, dropped down to the points where they are actually needed rather than wherever was convenient. Industrial-rated Palazzoli isolators and switched outlets were installed on unistrut for the plant, each one sited so it can be reached and isolated safely.

Lighting was designed around how the space is used: high-level LED throughout the warehouse working around the racking runs and the roof lights, and LED panels through the office and welfare areas. Much of it went in from a scissor lift before the racking was installed, which is far quicker and a great deal safer than working over finished shelving.

On the data side we installed the structured cabling — Cat6 to floor boxes and desk positions, fibre between the comms points, RJ45 outlets throughout, and ceiling-mounted wireless access points positioned for coverage across the warehouse floor as well as the offices. Every socket and outlet is labelled to its board and circuit (DB12/P/5L1 and so on), so anyone maintaining the building later can trace a circuit without guesswork.

Fully tested and certified on completion, and carried out around the other trades on site to keep the overall programme moving.
