Electric blinds and shutters that open, close and tilt on their own — driven by a light sensor in the room rather than a switch on the wall. We wire and commission automated blind, louvre and shutter systems so a space holds a comfortable, consistent light level all day without anyone touching a control.

Blinds that manage the light for you

Automated blinds and shutters replace the wall switch with a sensor. A small lux sensor in the room measures the actual light level, and the system opens, closes or tilts to hold it steady — so a south-facing office doesn't bake and glare at eleven in the morning and sit gloomy at four in the afternoon. You set the level you want once, and the room looks after itself. Manual and app control stay available for when you want to override it.

Tilt, or full close

Two different jobs, and it's worth knowing which you need. Tilting louvre systems — vertical or horizontal — rotate the slats to cut glare while keeping the view and most of the daylight. That's usually what you want in an office, showroom or living space, because it controls brightness without turning the lights on. Full-close shutters travel all the way down: proper heat rejection in summer, insulation in winter, blackout when you need it, and a genuine security benefit on ground-floor windows and patio doors. Plenty of buildings use both, on different elevations.

What the sensor actually controls

The lux sensor goes in the room, not on the outside of the building — that's the part people get wrong. An external sensor only knows what the sky is doing; an internal one knows what the room is doing, which is what you actually care about. We site it away from direct sun and away from the artificial lighting so it reads the working light level honestly, then set the thresholds and the dead-band with you so the blinds aren't creeping up and down every time a cloud goes over. Timers, scenes and app control layer on top for early mornings, closing time and holidays.

Wired in properly, then set up with you

Every motor needs a supply and a means of isolation, and a multi-blind system needs its control wiring planned before anything is fixed to a wall — retrofitting that neatly into a finished room is a great deal harder than allowing for it up front. We run the supplies, wire the sensors and controllers, commission the system and then sit down and tune it with you over the first few days, because the right light level is a matter of taste and nobody gets it perfect from a spec sheet. Domestic, office, showroom and conservatory installations across Norfolk and Suffolk.
