A building runs on its data network as much as its power, and the two are best installed together by one team. We design and install structured cabling — Cat6 and Cat6a to desks, tills and machinery, fibre between comms points, cabinets, patch panels and ceiling-mounted wireless access points — across offices, industrial units, retail units and homes throughout Norfolk and Suffolk. Properly routed, correctly segregated from power, labelled end to end and tested on completion.

The other half of a modern fit-out

Twenty years ago data cabling was an afterthought bolted on once the electricians had left. It isn't any more. A warehouse runs on scanners and WiFi, an office on VoIP handsets and cloud software, a shop on card terminals that stop taking money the moment the network drops. The cabling that carries all of it deserves the same care as the power, and it is far cheaper to install both at once, in the same containment, by the same team — rather than have someone come back afterwards and drill through what you have just finished.

Structured cabling, done properly

We install structured Cat6 and Cat6a to wherever it is actually needed: desk positions, floor boxes, till points, machinery, access control, cameras and wireless access points. Cables run in proper containment on planned routes, terminated at a patch panel in a cabinet rather than a bundle behind a cupboard, and every outlet is labelled at both ends to its panel and port. That labelling sounds like a small thing until something fails on a Monday morning and somebody has to find one cable among two hundred.

Fibre where copper won't reach

Copper has limits — about 90 metres of permanent link before performance falls away. Large industrial units, multi-building sites and anywhere the comms room is a long way from the far end of the floor need a fibre backbone between comms points, with copper radiating out locally from each. We install and terminate the fibre and set the cabinets up so the network has room to grow rather than being full on day one.

WiFi that works where you stand

Most bad WiFi is not a router problem, it is a coverage problem: too few access points, mounted wherever there happened to be a socket. We site ceiling-mounted access points around how the building is actually used and where the metal, racking and blockwork are, then cable each one back properly with PoE so there is no need for a plug and no dead zone in the middle of the warehouse floor.

Segregation, and why it matters

Data and mains cable can share containment, but not carelessly — run tight alongside power over a distance and you get interference on the data, which shows up as slow links and dropped connections that nobody can trace. We keep the separation right, cross at right angles where routes must meet, and use separate tray or basket where the run is long. Being electricians as well as cablers, we design the two together instead of discovering the clash on site.

Homes as well as businesses

Hard-wired points still beat WiFi for anything that matters — a home office, a TV, a games console, a mesh node. If you are having a rewire, an extension or a garden office built, that is by far the cheapest moment to add data cabling, because the walls are already open. Ask us to price it alongside the electrical work.

Tested and certified

Every link is tested on completion and you get the results, so you know the installation performs to the standard it was specified at rather than merely looking tidy. Offices, industrial units, retail, schools and homes across Norfolk and Suffolk.
