Two ATC electric radiators installed for a customer in Norwich, replacing tired existing heating with units that can actually be controlled properly.
ATC is the range we fit most, and the reason is control rather than output. Every electric heater converts electricity to heat at essentially 100% efficiency, so the badge on the front makes no difference to how much warmth a kilowatt buys you. What differs is how tightly the unit holds the room at the temperature you asked for — and the ATC thermal radiators use PID control with a Triac electronic thermostat to sit within roughly 0.2°C of the set point, instead of the overshoot-and-coast cycle a cheap panel heater runs on. Over a winter, that difference is the whole argument.
Here we fitted a larger unit in the living room and a compact one in the bedroom, each sized to the room rather than fitted identically throughout, and each independently controllable so the customer is not paying to heat space nobody is using. Both were positioned to give the convection room to work, wall-fixed level and solidly into the substrate, and left tidy.
Electric heating puts a serious sustained load on an installation, so on jobs like this we check what the existing circuits and consumer unit will actually carry before anything goes on a wall — and say so honestly if the supply needs attention first. All work tested and certified on completion by NICEIC-approved electricians.
