Pigeons nesting beneath roof-mounted solar panels are a common and costly problem — droppings foul the panels, debris blocks airflow and gutters, and the birds can damage the cabling underneath. On this job our team fitted a complete bird-proofing system around an existing PV array to stop pigeons getting under the panels for good.
A heavy-duty galvanised mesh skirt was clipped neatly around the full perimeter of the panels using purpose-made solar clips, leaving the panels and roof tiles undamaged and the cooling air gap intact. Along the ridge above the array we installed stainless steel anti-roosting spike strips to deny the birds their favourite perching spots, with the existing ridge vents kept clear and functional.
Before any mesh was fitted, the area beneath the panels was cleared of accumulated nesting material and fouling. The finished installation is discreet, durable and weatherproof — barely visible from ground level while giving the homeowner a long-term fix.
