A selection of what our inspections actually turn up in and around Norwich. None of this is unusual — every one of these was found in a property somebody was living or working in quite happily, unaware there was anything wrong.
An obsolete MEM main switch, still carrying the original inspection label from Secker & Sons of Norwich, decades past the point where replacement parts exist. A consumer unit with a mix of old rewireable protection and later additions bolted on, no coherent RCD protection across the circuits. A cable joint wrapped in insulating tape and left lying on a floor. Cables run through a joist notch with no mechanical protection, sitting against a copper pipe. A surface socket hanging off its fixing with the cable taking the strain.
An EICR is what finds these. We test the fixed wiring properly, code what we find (C1 for danger present, C2 for potentially dangerous, C3 for improvement recommended, FI where further investigation is needed) and give you a clear written report with honest advice on what genuinely needs doing and what can wait. No scare tactics and no pressure — plenty of what we find is a C3 that can be planned in at your convenience rather than an emergency.
